Hey there—
So CLOWNS LIKE ME opens in two days. I’ve been in NYC for two weeks. At least now my beloved Rebecca is up here with me (though my goodness how I miss our pups!).
I’ve gotta start off today with a big ol’ THANK YOU. So many of you have reached out with emails and texts, or even attended previews. Your support and enthusiasm for our show has meant far more than you know.
But just because I’m doing the Off-Broadway shuffle, that doesn’t mean other story stuff isn’t rolling right along. Let me tell you some great news about a couple of Ibis Books authors!
First up, you may remember Bob Danna and his memoir MY CURIOUS LIFE from a couple months back.
Well, the Kirkus Review is in, and their verdict is GET IT!!
An engaging, curiosity-driven journey from the 1960s to the present.

You can check out the full review HERE, and you can get the ebook at Ibis Books or the paperback at Amazon.
You can also learn more about Bob and his book HERE.
Congratulations, Bob!!
Second, Dan Landon’s memoir FROM THE BACK OF THE HOUSE just launched a couple weeks ago, and it also scored a “go get it!” review from BroadwayWorld.
The pages brim with serendipitous strokes of fortune and impeccable timing, delivering a thoroughly captivating narrative.

You can check out the full review HERE. And in a lovely bit of parallel structure, you can get the ebook at Ibis Books or the paperback at Amazon.
Congratulations, Dan!
And since we’re jamming on books from Ibis authors, I want to tell you about an upcoming event series. I’ve teamed up with the wonderful staff at the Senior Friendship Center in Sarasota to put together a JOYFUL JOURNEYS AUTHOR SERIES.
Each event will feature a different author, who will read an excerpt and do a q&a. I hear rumors of light refreshments, too. Read all about it HERE.
In July you can meet Estrella Engelhardt, author of LETTERS TO JIM, another lovely memoir from Ibis Books, and in August the very same Dan Landon who just rocked the BroadwayWorld review will be appearing in person to read, chat, and autograph.
Stay tuned—more authors will surely show up.
My first ever “podswap” landed last week. My Page&Stage guest this past Monday was Emily Sander, and she hosted me on her podcast, Leveraging Leadership. She also is a bit more fancy: her YouTube versions include video! So here’s a link to that version, if you like to watch your podcasts as well as listen. HERE’S MY FACE.
But first… opening night on Sunday! Talk about another joyful journey. And “journey” is the key. Because opening nights come whether or not you’re “ready.” Ready, like perfect, isn’t the goal. Ultimately, the goal for the actor—or for any of us, really—is simply to be prepared and present. As Tina Fey says…
It will never be perfect, but perfect is overrated. Perfect is boring.
Have a wonderfully imperfect and totally not boring weekend!

Thank you, Bob! Previews indeed are going very well, and the team is super excited for opening on Sunday. And congrats again to you on the Kirkus review. Anyone/everyone reading these comments—go check out Bob’s book!
Thanks so much Jason for mentioning my book and the new review from Kirkus. I hope all of the previews of Clowns Like Me are going well and opening night will be fantastic. Looking forward to seeing it and you in August when we are there for the closing performance.
